Summary
Position Summary
The Workforce Development Specialist will support and coordinate the workforce development initiatives for Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Responsibilities include collaborating with educational institutions, business partners, and community partners to establish the alignment between education, workforce training, and industry demand through student initiatives and programs.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Associate’s degree or higher
Experience
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate outreach strategies and create partnerships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in computer operations (Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct effective group presentations
- Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
Preferred Requirements
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of workforce development programs.
- Experience with myClinicalExchange clinical workflow application.
- Experience working closely with students and planning student focused events.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic student shadowing process to meet organizational Workforce and Pipeline Development goals.
- Maintain daily student shadowing request, compliance, and placement.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary departments to expand shadowing, internship, and apprenticeship opportunities within SRHS.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with appropriate agencies, organizations/schools, industries, and community leaders using a variety of methods.
- Assist with the coordination, inventory, organization and preparation of materials, equipment, reference materials, etc. for workforce development initiatives as assigned.
- Assist in identifying community and fiscal resources for program continuance and enhancement.
- Enhance visibility and awareness of SRHS student programs.
- Coordinate and assist with special projects and outreach efforts such as representing SRHS in community in K-12, Middle School, Highschool, and College settings (career fairs).
- Identify opportunities for innovative workforce development activities.
- Work closely with operational leaders to develop and maintain career pathways.
- Assist with developing and implementing strategic goals and objectives for each outreach effort.
- Schedule, coordinate, facilitate and/or participate in project-related meetings, tours, trainings, and conference calls related to workforce development efforts as required.
- Assist with program evaluation to include collecting evaluation and needs assessment data from program participants in workforce development efforts through surveys and rounding.
- Participate in planning, strategic development, and implementation of organizational programs such as High School-2-Healthcare, Clinical Faculty Academy, and Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
- Provide input for the development of marketing strategies and special events to reach target audiences and meet program objectives.
- Assist in collecting media from student events to support marketing initiatives.
- Demonstrate ability to get along well with others, be punctual, pleasant, and tactful with professional appearance and conduct.
- Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task or other assignments.
