Job Summary
Under the supervision of a credentialed Physician, assists in cardiovascular lab procedures while maintaining a sterile field. Performs various procedures that require independent judgment and high level of skill proficiency. Assists with care of critically ill patients. The scope of care includes age group adolescent thru geriatric.

Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications: Registered Cardio Interventional Specialist (RCIS), Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT(R)), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT) required. In lieu of registry, Paramedic license with five (5) years will be accepted. Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum Experience: Applicants to this position must have a minimum of one year experience in their respective discipline.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensures that correct patient data is in the x-ray equipment and that correct technical factors for each patient are selected to achieve optimal picture quality.
- Preps the procedure room and equipment for procedure to be performed, to include cleaning, removal of trash, and restocking of room between cases.
- Maintaining sterile technique throughout invasive procedures
- Prepares for procedure in terms of sterile supplies required.
- Ensures patients are prepped and draped appropriately, maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- Assists the Physician during both endovascular and cardiovascular cases as evidenced by knowledge of selected equipment, selection and care of catheters, guidewires, stents, and other necessary supplies.
- Trained in vascular sheath removal with adequate hemostasis. If credentialed, has ability to deploy vascular closure devices using proper sterile technique.
- Performs and rotates through functions of scrub, circulating (not administering medications), and monitoring positions
- Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots fluoroscopy and digital radiological equipment
- Ensures that required pre-, intra-, and post- procedure documentation is present and accurate when documenting in patient EMR.
- Prepares and operates specialized equipment found in the cath lab environment
- Performs and documents daily operational functions on procedure room equipment on designated documentation form.
- Ensures that patient procedures/supply charges are accurate.
- Ability to take call shifts with a response time of 30 minutes.
- Assumes responsibility for own personal and professional development.
- Assists in orientation of new staff and/or serves as a mentor. Assists with supervision of PRN staff.
- Serves as facilitator between staff and manager providing feedback as necessary.
- Completes unit based skills annually.
- Attends mandatory educational classes pertaining to new equipment, procedures, supplies, and new technology. Responsible for continuing education for required certifications.
- Assists with the documentation for the department's PI proframs and participates in the department's process improvement initiatives.
- Performs special projects/duties as requested and according to established time frames.
