Summary:
The Unit Customer Service Specialist / Secretary carries out secretarial duties related to the smooth functioning of their assigned nursing unit. Greet new and existing patients upon their arrival to the unit. Provide a welcome round to the hospital for each patient. Schedule patient appointments. Answer call lights promptly and courteously. Ensures all team members response to call light in a timely manner (less than 2 minutes). Organize and maintain patient charts. Review test and labs to ensure all are collected and completely timely. Ensures all staff have locators and they are working promptly. Ensures all physician (MD) consults are called. Orders necessary items for the department. Completes work orders for equipment repairs and/or maintenance issues. Stocks all areas with needed supplies. Completes an EPIC workflow: admission and discharge. Maintains clean work space free of clutter. Wipes area down each shift. Maintains rovers and verify all are accounted for each shift. Complete Right of Choice form for Med to Bed. 50% employees worked hours in direct care rounding on and assisting patient and other duties that are direct patient care duties.
Other information:
A. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Data entry experience and some knowledge of computer programs preferred but not required, fluid English, a willingness to work flexible hours. You will also be required to obtain your certification in CPR during your first 60 days of employment. This certification will be a requirement for this role while employed at Baptist Health. The Unit Customer Service Specialist / Secretary carries out secretarial duties related to the smooth functioning of their assigned nursing unit. Must have knowledge of medical terminology, must be self-motivated, & be able to exercise sound judgment in response to inquiries by patients & visitors. Must be able to prioritize tasks efficiently, concentrate on tasks being performed, & be adaptable to change. Must be able to multitask. Must be able to perform duties quickly & accurately. Experience working in data entry software and maintaining detailed information regarding available stock and supplies.
This job will be authorized 72.00 hours bi-weekly.
