Overview
Responsible for the decontamination, preparation and distribution of sterile and non-sterile items. Ensures and maintains safety and quality in the performance of these duties in the outpatient office setting.
Qualifications
Education:
1) High school education or equivalent.
2) Maintains his or her certification (CRCST or CSPDT ) and annually completes 10 hours of continuing education. The continuing education shall be in the areas related to the functions of a central service technician. Employee provides proof of compliance with the continuing education requirements to Human Resources.
3) Verification of certification will prove to the organization that the individual has met the educational criteria.
Experience:
1) Previous Sterile Processing experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
1) Must possess consistent ability to follow procedures and instructions accurately.
2) Ability to effectively communicate with Practice Manager, Clinical Coordinator and physicians to fill requisitions, explain equipment operation, provide information, and request services. Works closely with other employees in the department to carry out work responsibilities.
License/Certification/Registration:
1) Certified as a Sterile Processing Technician through an approved, accredited, certifying agency.
