The Staff Nurse –COVID Program RN duties include but are not limited to triage; access; case management; and nursing support for the Health Center’s COVID Monitoring, Testing and Vaccination program. Position is Per Diem, as needed at the Harbor Community Health Center-Hyannis. 

Job Duties:

  • Performs all nursing duties in accordance with Massachusetts Nursing Practice Act, while adhering to Harbor Health policies and procedures
  • Performs nurse visits for individuals experiencing COVID, flu or strep symptoms, assists with performing lab or point of care testing, monitoring or vaccinations as needed.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Actively demonstrates a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice to holistically care for the patient.
  • Identifies individuals for COVID monitoring care based on clinical protocols.
  • Acts as liaison between the patient and the care team
  • Assists in the orientation, evaluation and training of new staff to the department
  • Takes thorough and accurate patient history.
  • Records pertinent information in medical record as per policy
  • Performs routine nursing duties as directed in writing by an authorized provider and/or as prescribed by law
  • Communicates with all staff, patients, and families demonstrating excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Provides cross coverage and training for COVID monitoring telehealth visits and follow up.

 

Required/Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Current MA Registered Nurse (RN) license, BSN preferred and current BLS required
  • Excellent customer service skills and verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to effectively work within both a team setting and independently
  • Ability to work effectively with economically, racially and linguistically diverse customers
  • Basic computer literacy to include scheduling software (EPIC/OCHIN preferred), and Microsoft Office Outlook, Work and Excel
  • Experience in a community health setting preferred
  • Ambulatory care or health insurance environment preferred
