POSITION PURPOSE:
  • Operates ultrasound units to obtain images for the use in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Positions patients, assists physicians, and provides for patient and staff safety. Ensures that files and records are properly completed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform all VVMC ultrasound examinations according to VVMC protocols and in compliance of ACR accreditation.
  • Maintain constructive, collaborative communication with patients, patients’ families, physicians, co-workers, and other members of health care team to contribute to continuity of care.
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy and present completed examinations to appropriate radiologist.
  • Accurately use of the HIS and PACS computer systems to document patient information.
  • Monitor supply inventory and notify appropriate staff for ordering when stock is low. Keep exam and dressing rooms stocked and neat.
  • Abide by all hospital and department policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience performing radiographic and ultrasound examinations preferred. Must have the analytical skills required to determine the best method of obtaining exams with minimal or no supervision. Must have the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Certification(s):
    • Must be registered (or eligible to register) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and be ARDMS registered. BLS required.
  • Computer / Typing:
    • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
