The Portfolio Management Office (PMO) is an integral part of DGSOM and plays a significant role in advancing quality, internal and external customer satisfaction, and profitability by leading the enterprise-wide implementation of projects/programs closing strategic gaps and advancing DGSOM’s mission, vision and strategic goals & objectives. Using Agile project management methods as an alternative to traditional methodologies, the Agile Coach & Sr. Scrum Master will lead teams and scrum masters to drive organizational change. The goal of the Agile Coach & Sr. Scrum Master will be to improve overall project management efforts by increasing collaboration, innovation, and introducing techniques that promote adaptability and flexibility in the face of unpredictable circumstances.
Under general supervision of the Executive Director of PMO, you will be responsible for transitioning the project management of all cross-functional IT initiatives to lean-agile methodologies (approx. 140 people, $15M annual operating expense, $19M including all 3 Health Science schools). This includes the overall implementation and performance of DGSOM IT Agile transformation. You will be responsible for cross-functional planning and execution of the Agile transformation initiative in collaboration with the DGSOM Dean’s Office, DGSOM IT (DGIT) and in alignment with DGSOM’s vision and strategic plan. The ideal candidate will have experience leading organizational change initiatives, high-performing cross-functional software development project teams, coaching the use of best practice Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, Release planning, and other methodologies to deliver high-value high-impact results. S/he will also have experience coaching Executive and Senior Leaders in lean-agile thinking, and garnering support at all levels.
In this role, you will spearhead lean-agile organizational change initiatives and be responsible for the agile transformation of multiple traditional hierarchical development teams and technical project/program managers to adopt lean-agile methodologies. This includes (but is not limited to): training Agile principles and methodologies, assessing specific needs of each team/program, working with Product Management and the Technical Director to define roadmap for DGSOMs Agile Enterprise Data Analytics (EDA) & Data Operations strategy & vision, establishing sprint/project plans, managing / coaching teams, implementing best practices for tracking / measuring of progress against goals, and creating and coaching communication feedback loops between teams and customers/departments. Last, you will have experience developing organizational, department, and team health metrics based on relevant empirical data; and have a proven track record of organizational, departmental, and team-based continuous improvement over time.
