Position Summary

Job Requirement
Education/Experience:Equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of experience in the health care field as a medical office assistant or comparable experience, one (1) year of which were in an acute care hospital.
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working directly with insurance providers or in patient referral processing, prior authorizations, demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies
- Prior experience in healthcare or clinic patient registration and/or scheduling
- 1+ years of experience training and leading team members
- Experience with Epic software is preferred
- Strong focus on customer service
- Capable of managing multiple complex projects effectively
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with time management, mentoring, and leadership abilities
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are highly preferred
- Committed to taking accountability and following through with delegated tasks
- Proficient in professional and effective communication, both written and verbal, with attention to accurate spelling and grammar
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and proactively analyze and resolve issues
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Knowledge of:Medical terminology; physician medical specialties; community medical/health care services; computers and associated software; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and procedures; handling, storage, use and disposable of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.Skill in:
Organizing and prioritizing work; maintaining information/data; using a personal computer and application software programs; networking with other health care organizations; communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic and backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated for long periods of time and maintain concentration, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
