Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Center City Philadelphia is currently hiring a RN to supervise the Operating Room Nursing Assistants. This Registered Nurse supervises the team of nursing assistants (approximately 40) along with performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services in the Operating Rooms. The RN Supervisor will work in collaboration with the OR managers, Operating Room Charge Nurse, Specialty Team Supervisors (STS) and Specialty Team Technician Supervisors (STTS) and nursing staff to support the needs of the operating room.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises all activities of the nursing assistants by maintaining their daily assignments and by maintaining visibility on all of the operating room units.
- Follows approved/established techniques and procedures related to asepsis, infection control and safety.
- Is able to oversee all duties and tasks of an Operating Room Nursing Assistant, including room setup, transportation of patients, equipment retrieval, and room turnover.
- Continually looks for cost saving opportunities and ways to improve efficiency.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the Jefferson values.
- Supervisor experience preferred
- RN experience required
There are 34 Operating Rooms at Jefferson’s Main Campus that conduct the following types of surgery: Orthopedics, ENT, Maxillofacial, Spine, Neuro, Hand, Cardiac, Vascular, Thoracic, Transplant, Urology, Gynecology, Plastics, and General.
Conditions of Employment
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
