The RN collaborates in the spirit of teamwork is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.

Our Critical Care RNs practice in each of our hospital campuses, from our flagship Mount Carmel East with its Level II Trauma facility with a brand new 5-story tower and 381-bed capacity, to our brand new 7-story 210 Mount Carmel Grove City hospital or the Westerville community staple, Mount Carmel St. Ann's. Responsibilities

  • Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice. Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
  • Assists provider with patient assessment, examinations and treatments.
  • Thoroughly educates and explains procedures to patients and family members (diagnosis, disease process etc.).
  • Assists in emergency situations under the direction of the provider
  • Performs basic medical procedures under the supervision of a provider, including set up of procedures.
  • Administers medications under the direction of the provider, according to the organization’s standards, policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
  • Maintains a clean, well-stocked patient care area, observing asepsis techniques and all other federal mandates.
  • Keeps all inventory records, logs and maintains required records for CLIA including specimen, maintenance, daily, weekly and monthly logs.
  • Maintains current knowledge, skills, education and licensure in clinical practice, attends required in-services and staff meetings, and demonstrates professional growth.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensure/Certification: In good standing with a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio.
  • Demonstrates the ability to plan, organize and manage patient care, including delegation to and supervision of other members of the patient care team.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to make decisions based on established policies and procedures.
  • Current BLS/CPR.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills across all populations.
  • Basic computer skills required. Previous experience with EMR preferred.
