  • POSITION PURPOSE: Two to three sentences describing the overall purpose of the position.
    • The Revenue Cycle Data Analyst position is responsible for collaborating with Revenue Cycle team members and vendors to establish data needs, identify systems and processes for data collection, interpret data trends and assist in the creation and interpretation of data reports for consumption by Patient Financial Services, Medical Records, the Revenue Cycle Leadership team, Vail Health leadership, Board members, community partners and the general public.
  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maximum of ten functions in order of percentage of time spent on functions from longest to shortest; do not list anything that does not represent at least 10% of the job’s time. Please include supervisory responsibilities.
    • Collaborate with team members and community partners to establish Revenue Cycle data needs and establish mechanisms for routinely collecting, analyzing and reporting Revenue Cycle data.

      1. In collaboration with leadership, identify new and existing systems and processes for data collection and then collect data from various sources and use statistical methods to analyze and interpret data to identify patterns and trends in complex data sets on a routine basis.

      2. Oversee data collection and reporting for various initiatives, including but not limited to community peer support and Revenue Cycle programs.

      3. In collaboration with leadership, examine various data sets to find trends, create charts, models, and data visualization tools, presentations and data reports to translate data into lay terms and assist with key business decisions.

      4. Design and generate data reports and dashboards from multiple data systems.

      5. Train end users on how to interpret data reports and use common queries in published data dashboards.

      6. Monitor performance, data quality and data integrity to identify improvements to Revenue Cycle data collection, analysis and reporting. Make recommendations to improve Revenue Cycle processes, Patient Financial Services, systems and data quality.

      7. Provide quality assurance and ensure confidential data is maintained according to HIPAA and Vail Health requirements.

      8. Provide information in a fair and impartial manner which is culturally and linguistically appropriate, and disability accessible, for the populations being served, including individuals with limited English proficiency.

      9. Work within enterprise to coordinate any associated resources, supports, or services that are tied to data collection, analysis and reporting that would enhance Revenue Cycle services.

      10. Role models the principals of a Just Culture and Vail Health Values.

      11. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
    • Experience:
      • o Two years of data analysis experience, including the use of statistical methods to collect and analyze data and generate quality business reports. oCerner Revenue Cycle Management Experience Preferred

        o Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write comprehensive reports and present findings both in writing and in person.

        o Demonstrated expertise in the use of data models, data mining, data visualization and data interpretation and report writing.

        o Ability to handle multiple tasks, solve problems, and work successfully in a stressful environment.

        o Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc).

        o T-SQL, PL-SQL, DAX, PowerBI experience preferred

      • o Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must be comfortable working with various software programs and be proficient with MS Office suite.
    • Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
    • Education:
      • o Preferred bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Management, Statistics or a comparable field of study.
