Summary

Responsible for support of Cancer Control and CCDR Team for Gibbs Cancer Center and Upstate Carolina NCI Oncology Research Program (UC-NCORP) grant in accordance with associated federal guidelines and Institutional policies and procedures. Promote the participation of underrepresented groups in our catchment area into NCI Clinical Trials through community engagement and patient support programs.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Participate on Disparities and Community Engagement Committee locally and in a cooperative group setting.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice techniques to ensure, establish, and monitor quality indicators to measure engagement
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement public presentations and community conversations in outreach efforts.
  • Act as Engagement Coordinator for the Moonshot Biobank protocol, ensuring enrolled participants are supported during their enrollment
  • Advise and participate in grant writing for disparities research
  • Act as a full member of the Cancer Control and Cancer Care Delivery Research team.  Dedicated data management and specimen handling for research coordinator team in designated therapeutic areas
  • Extracting medical information from patients’ medical records and data input into Electronic Data Capture systems (EDC)
  • Laboratory coordination for supply ordering, specimen processing, and outgoing lab shipments; additionally, interdepartmental coordination of pathology and imaging
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, sciences, or health-related Field

 

Experience

  • Knowledge of cultural competency, equity, and outreach practices
  • Demonstration of effective written and verbal communication skills to include ability to present to groups of all sizes.

 

License/Registration/Certifications       

  • N/A

 

 

Preferred Education

  • Master’s Degree in Business or Health Administration

 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with disparities, diversity, or equity initiatives in a healthcare setting
  • 1-3 years Clinical Research Experience

 

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

  • N/A

 

  • Serve as research department representative to hospital, grant, cooperative group and local diversity committees as designated.
  • Create monthly newsletter article for UC-NCORP to promote engagement.
  • Create monthly social media piece for inclusion by marketing team.
  • Navigate participants in the Moonshot initiative and report on results of our engagement project
  • Write and advise on sections of future grant applications within disparities field
  • Must be able to travel to conferences, or to off-site locations to provide education if needed.
  • Proficiency with Clinical Trial Management System
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision

 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to speak and write English fluently.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to manage projects with sensitive timelines.
  • Possession of excellent communication and organizational skills.
