SCHEDULE: Variable 1st shifts, weekdays, weekends and holidays, 40 hours weekly.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Pharmacy Clerk interacts with customers in gathering information, ringing sales on the cash register, accepting payment, and providing a high level of customer care and service.  The Pharmacy Clerk is also responsible for maintaining and stocking the front end of the pharmacy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Effectively communicate and interact with patients and caregivers in a positive and professional manner.
  • Provide information for patients and staff that is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Typing and computer skills.
  • Good organizational skills.

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years retail pharmacy experience preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:  N/A Generic Job Description ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.  Collects patient information, answers questions accurately, accepts payments, and thanks all customers.
2.  Enters information into the computer database as required by law and follows all cash handling policies and procedures.
3.  Answers telephone and refers caller to appropriate personnel when needed.
4.  Responsible for maintaining the front end of the pharmacy.  Assists with stock maintenance to ensure that quality drug products and supplies are available when needed.
5.  Adheres to general pharmacy standards to promote a cooperative work environment through communication and team building.
6.  Participates in the planning process by establishing personal goals to support quality improvement efforts and contributes to the achievement of departmental objectives.
7.  Supports the Pharmacy Department's commitment to quality improvement and the philosophy and principles of Total Quality.
8.  Takes initiative for professional growth and development.SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
