Pharmacist
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Ensures the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of therapeutically appropriate and cost effective pharmaceuticals to all patients. Performs routine monitoring of the effects and side effects of each patient’s drug regimen. The pharmacist shall provide direct, immediate and personal supervision to pharmacy interns and pharmacy technicians working with the pharmacist. Direct, immediate and personal supervision means that the supervising pharmacist has reviewed the prescription or drug order prior to its being dispensed, has verified the final product and is immediately available on the premises to direct the work of interns and technicians and respond to questions or problems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
1) Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy required.
2) Doctorate degree in Pharmacy preferred.
Experience:
1) Recent clinical hospital experience preferred.
2) Pharmacy residency experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
1) Knowledge of all current state and federal laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy
2) Ability to positively interact with other pharmacy assistants, clerks, pharmacists, providers, , nurses, other health system employees, and medical sales representatives.
License/Certification/Registration:
1) Current license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
2) Advanced practice certifications preferred.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives minimal supervision from the Pharmacy Manager.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
Supervises the activities of the Pharmacy Assistants and Clerks.
