JOB SUMMARY:   The staff Physical Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, treatment, and discharge of all patients referred for Physical Therapy services.  The Physical Therapist is an integral healthcare provider accountable to assist the patient to their highest level of physical and cognitive function.  The staff Physical Therapist will uphold the mission, vision, and values of Magee Rehabilitation.


Essential Accountabilities:

  1. Manages a full patient caseload as defined by the unit on which the therapist works.  This includes patient evaluation and re-evaluation, treatment planning and implementation, development of home programs, documentation including letters of justification, reporting in conference, participating in patient/family/team conferences and discharge planning, patient/caregiver education, orthotic, prosthetic, assistive device, and equipment assessment and ordering, and leading patient groups.
  2. Provides services on assigned weekends and holidays.
  3. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, and lift in order to effectively treat patients referred to Physical Therapy services.
  4. Must be able to exert 50 pounds of force while lifting patients and/or devices.
  5. Must be able to have sufficient standing balance to guard ambulatory patients.


Education:  Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Program.

Licensures and Certifications:   Valid Pennsylvania license in Physical Therapy. CPR certification required.

Experience:  Completion of student related affiliations as per academic setting, 0-2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist, adult rehabilitation preferred but not required.

Conditions of Employment

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act,  including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check.  The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
