General Summary

Under general supervision of a licensed clinician the Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical services intended to aid patients in establishing recovery from living live with a serious and persistent mental illness and /or the high risk of dependent alcohol and drug use problems. The Peer Recovery Coach will work as part of the assigned program’s treatment team to provide peer support and motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment for mental illness or for alcohol or drug dependency and addiction issues.  The Peer Recovery Coach will assist in completing referrals to treatment services and developing service plans to promote successful linkage to treatment services. The establishment of a recovery plan designed to work towards the client’s goals of living life independently in a community of their choosing in a productive and contributing way is the ultimate purpose.

What You Need to Be Successful:

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred. The candidate must be actively engaged in his/her own recovery program with a minimum of two years demonstrated personal recovery in managing their mental illness and/or sustained abstinence from alcohol and/or drug use.
  2. Eligible for the Certification as a Peer Recovery Coach in the State of Maryland and complete training and certification within the first year of employment.

We work very well with our multi-disciplinary staffing to make sure we come up with the best care for our patients, and our opinions actually matter and they're valued. And you would see that a lot of our physicians and nurses will come to us for recommendations, and we work very well for an overall plan. So this is something that's great for our community.
