Job Description

Central Carolina Hospital

Working under the guidance of the Pathologist/Medical Director, the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Coordinator maintains the Anatomic Pathology department and assists with various technical procedures.

 

  1. Analyzes, processes, embeds, sections, stains, coverslips, and labels pathology specimens for the purpose of examination by staff pathologists.
  2. Monitors instruments, chemicals and work related records. Coordinates the technical, clerical and billing activities of the department.
  3. Assists in planning, direction, and control of operations. Works under the general direction of the Pathologists and the Administrative Director, Laboratory.
  4. Plans under the direct or indirect supervision of a Pathologist, assists in the preparation and performance of surgical specimen dissections and performance of human postmortem examinations.

The Anatomic Pathology Coordinator also assists in the implementation and monitoring of department procedures regarding anatomic pathology.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree is required

 

Required License:

None

 

Required Certification: 

MLT/ or HT/ or HTL/ or MT certification preferred
