Description - External

An employee in this class serves as a member of the emergency department.

Employee will perform direct patient care under the direction of an emergency physician.  Also perform

administrative, clerical, and clinical duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and procedures of

Central Carolina Hospital, Emergency Department and Central Carolina Advanced Life Support.

Job Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required

Preferred

Training commensurate with NC EMS Paramedic certification

Required course work in emergency medical techniques; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Experience

Required

Experience in emergency service work

X

Licensure, Certification or Other Qualifications

Required

Preferred

Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic by the North Carolina Medical Board.

National Registry of EMT Paramedics and Critical Care Paramedic certifications preferred

Certified ACLS, PALS, BCLS

X

Possession of a valid driver’s license with solid history of safe driving issued by the state of North Carolina

X

Other Minimum Abilities / Aptitudes

Considerable knowledge of emergency medical procedures and techniques.

Ability to respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations.

Relays information regarding patients to doctors and other hospital personnel.

Maintain electronic medical records on patients.

Act in accordance with CCALS, NCOEMS, ED and Central Carolina Hospital policies and procedures

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.

Ability to lift substantial weight.

X

Ability to multi-task and provide care in a vast array of clinical settings.

Knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments associated with EMS work.
