Overview

Ensures the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of therapeutically appropriate and cost effective pharmaceuticals to all patients in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy. Serves as a resource to health care professionals, patients and students. Consults with nursing and medical staff regarding medications, orders, drug and pharmaceutical details, patient reactions, errors and complaints. Integrates the patient and/or the patient’s caregivers in the care plan. Has the responsibility for performing assessment, routine monitoring of the treatment and side effects of each patient’s drug regimen served by the Cancer Center.

 

Qualifications

Education:

 

1) Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy required.
2) Doctorate degree in Pharmacy preferred.

 

Experience:

 

1) Recent clinical hospital experience preferred.
2) Pharmacy residency experience preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

1) Knowledge of all current state and federal laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy.
2) Ability to positively interact with other pharmacy assistants, pharmacists, physicians, nurses, other hospital employees, and medical sales representatives.
3) Conducts business in a professional and cordial manner that upholds the integrity and reputation of Mount Nittany Medical Center.
4) Knowledge of human resource laws and regulations as they relate to the management of staff.

 

License/Certification/Registration:

 

1) Current license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
