Medical Technologist
Position Objective:
The incumbent perform routine and special clinical laboratory tests in one or more disciplines, including quality control and equipment maintenance to ensure accurate results. Assists with R & D activities and maintain quality control records. Assist in researching and resolving technical and operational problems.
Education/Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
MT (ASCP) or equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
Experience in an acute care setting preferred.
Generalist Experience to include: Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Serology and Blood Bank required.
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of techniques, principals and instruments and their inter-relationships as well as the physiological conditions affecting test results required.
Performs QC and QA activities according to protocol of assigned section.
Prioritizes, organizes and re-organizes workload in response to STAT requests.
Performs and records quality control functions within specified time frames. Follows protocol for running controls and accepting/verifying results.
