Position Summary:
Performs professional level social work in areas such as: assessing patient needs and coordinating a safe, comprehensive discharge plan which may involve emotional support to the patient, the family or significant others.

 

Job Requirement

 

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and one (1) year of professional level social work experience in a social service agency or hospital setting; or an internship or field work related to the profession.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Must possess a valid State of Nevada License as a Social Worker.

 

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

 

  • 5 years of Acute care experience as a Social Worker.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

 

Knowledge of:
Principles, practices and techniques of social work, health and welfare; federal, state and county regulations governing area of responsibility; local, state and Federal social welfare and assistance programs; community resources; medical terminology, diagnoses, and treatments; counseling techniques such as family dynamics, cultural diversity and crisis intervention; assessment and interviewing techniques; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill in:
Developing and implementing individual treatment plans; coordinating an intervention; solving problems; applying effective counseling techniques; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; efficiently, effectively and safely using equipment; preparing written records and reports.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting including stamina to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, and use standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
