Description
As a Medical Scribe with the Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Clinic in Santa Monica, you will assist physicians with various administrative aspects of patient care. You will work in close association with physicians assigned to the department and will be part of the medicine team. Under the direction of physicians, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Recording the physician medical record documentation (electronic or paper) of patient history, physical exam findings, progress notes, and procedure notes
- Follow-up of laboratory and diagnostic results
- Expediting consults
- Monitoring the completion of charts and send incomplete charts back to appropriate physicians as needed
Majority of the responsibilities will be typical scribe work. The other half of the work will be handling the physician’s administrative calendar, managing patient messages (answering when appropriate with MD direction), drafting letters, taking meeting minutes, and formatting presentations/lectures along with traveling between clinics (1-2x/month- Venice Family Clinic- Pulmonary-Sleep and Westwood NueroMuscular Disease clinic) and conducting pulmonary tests for patients. Main clinic is in Santa Monica.
Salary Range: $22.85-$32.03/hourly
Senate Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2023. Starting June 1, 2024, SB525 sets a new $23 minimum wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,380/week (equivalent to $5,980/month or $71,760/year).
1. As defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are involved in the provision of “health care services,” which means “patient care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by medical residents, interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services; janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; business office clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center and warehouse work; scheduling; and gift shop work; but only where such services support patient care”.
2. Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.
