Overview

Works under the supervision of a Registered Mammographer to learn Mammography and Stereotactic Biopsies.

Responsibilities

 

  • Reviews order request for accuracy, checking for special instructions from ordering physician and consults with Radiologist or ordering physician's office as necessary.
  • Pleasantly greets patients, confirms their identification and introduces themselves.
  • Completely explains exam to the patient and their family if present.
  • Learns and demonstrates complete working knowledge of all equipment in the Mammography Department.
  • Performs mammographic procedures according to established protocols.
  • Maintains a daily log.
  • Monitors and reports supplies in shortage and special order items.
  • Learns and performs preventative safety inspections and conducts QC tests in accordance with the ACR.
  • Identifies any problems and reports them to supervisor.
  • Evaluates recorded images for technical quality. Demonstrates anatomy through proper positioning.
  • Recognizes emergency situations, initiates EMS and administers first aid or CPR as needed.
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation per policy and complete STT's when appropriate.
  • Good telephone etiquette.
  • Coordinates scheduling with other departments to ensure patient flow
  • Orders exams, tracks patient data, scans documents and can make copies of exams as requested.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with the ARRT
  • Two years of experience in radiologic technology field
  • BLS-Basic Life Saving certification
  • Gains bone density credentials within 1 year if not currently held
