We are actively seeking candidates for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Med Surg position to join our nursing team at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

General Summary Under moderate supervision, the staff Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a licensed caregiver who performs as a team member who has a thorough knowledge of scientific principles, methods, and technical skills to treat and care for adult and older adult patients. All work is performed under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Unit Details:
4 South is a 24-bed acute adult medical/surgical/telemetry unit which serves as the primary floor for Kaiser Permanente patients. The 4 South Nursing care team utilizes a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach and the nursing process to provide comprehensive care to our very diverse patient population.
The patients on 4 South undergo a variety of treatments that may include surgeries, radiology, interventional radiology, endovascular procedures, laboratory studies, cardiac/ hemodynamic monitoring, fluid and electrolyte replacement. Patients accepted to 4 South are from all areas of the hospital, including the Emergency Department, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Patients may also be received directly from provider’s offices or transferred from other facilities. Patients are assigned to 4 South by the Bed Flow Coordinator or Nursing Supervisor in conjunction with the 4 South Charge Nurses.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Practical Nursing is required.
  • Currently licensed by the Maryland State Board of Nursing required.
  • Recent appropriate nursing practice (within the past 5 years) or refresher course within the past six (6) months.

We work very well with our multi-disciplinary staffing to make sure we come up with the best care for our patients, and our opinions actually matter and they're valued. And you would see that a lot of our physicians and nurses will come to us for recommendations, and we work very well for an overall plan. So this is something that's great for our community.
