Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Spartanburg Sleep Services, the Lead Technologist functions as a charge technician,
preceptor and a resource for all sleep center locations. This position will be maintained by a Registered Sleep
Technologist who has demonstrated competency in all available modalities of sleep medicine. The Lead Technologist
will act as a liaison between the day and night staff to ensure the individual health care needs of patients are met. They
will identify education and training needs among the staff and work with the Manager to offer opportunities for staff
development and growth. The Lead Technologist is an experienced technician who is seen as a leader in the
department. As an accredited lab by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Lead Technician will participate in
clinical policy development and review, maintain staff education records in adherence of the standards of an accredited
lab, take part in re-accreditation processes including site visits.
Minimum Requirements
Education
High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience
(1) year or more.
License/Registration/Certifications
Holds the BRPT’s Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential and/or AARC’s Sleep Disorders
Specialist (SDS) credential.
Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with American Heart Association.
Preferred Requirements
Preferred Education
Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an
emphasis in sleep technology.
Preferred Experience
(2-3) years of nighttime testing experience including hands on testing and data scoring
