Qualifications

Required Skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Extensive experience in aseptic technique, primary cell culture and all areas of cell and molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and quantitative PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry and FACS, density gradient centrifugation, isolating and handling DNA.B
  • Performing immunostaining and fluorescence microscopy analyses D
  • Ability to make substantial contributions to the design and execution of lab experiments as well as ability to critically evaluate the relevant literature on similar techniques to troubleshoot and adapt research protocols
  • Ability to adapt and learn new skillsets such as 3D printing, nanoparticle synthesis, and microfluidic sample preparation
  • Knowledge of bio-safety and chemical safety guidelines and ability to enforce compliance to these guidelines
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) to maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, records and documents for inspection, and to prepare and make research presentations in lab meetings
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse research environment and to work as a member and manager of a team

Preferred Skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Experience supervising students and volunteers in a laboratory setting
  • Experience with purchasing of laboratory supplies in Bruinbuy or other procurement system
