Histology Technician - Pathology

- Prepares tissue sections for microscopic examination using a variety of techniques including fixation, embedding, cutting, and staining tissue slides for good diagnostic quality.
- Prioritizes and accurately performs all designated departmental procedures, including embedding, microtomy, staining (special stains), decalcification, coverslipping, and labeling.
- Operates precision equipment and works with a variety of reagents and chemicals to make tissue abnormalities visible with a microscope.
- Prepares and maintains solutions required for all procedures.
- Identifies, labels, and processes tissue according to specifications.
- Maintains equipment, cleaning, changing solutions, taking temperatures, and replenishing supplies and solutions as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory agencies.
The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States. The Department aims to shape the future of pathology as it will be practiced in community hospitals, academic medical centers, and clinical laboratories throughout the country. The Department is growing very rapidly and there is great opportunity for advancement in the Anatomic Pathology Laboratories.

Shift: Monday – Friday 2:30 AM to 11: 00 AM - Shift Diff pay will apply
Hourly range:
The hourly rate range for this position is $31.84 - $40.93.
