Food Services Assistant II - Food Services - High Point Medical Center
Part-time - 20 hours/week - Rotating Shifts, Including Weekends
Job Summary:
Builds and delivers food trays to patients, processes meal requests and diet orders through computer system, provides prompt and accurate service to customers using point of service operations. Interacts with patients, employees, medical staff and customers over the phone and in person. Builds nourishment orders and delivers to floor using hospital computer ordering system.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED General Studies Required
Certifications and Licensures:
- N/A
Experience:
- 2+ Food Service Preferred
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
- General knowledge of cleaning methods, food service equipment and food preparation and service.
- Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor
- Ability to maintain and adhere to safety and sanitation standards particularly regarding: personal cleanliness, food
- Preparation/holding/service and equipment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic math/cash handling skills to add, subtract and make change.
- Basic computer skills; ability to learn new computer software programs.
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve to meet the needs of the customer.
Job Specific Duties:
- Assists with food preparation including: cold food production, baking and grill relief
- Transports items from storeroom to kitchen, from kitchen to retail and from cooking equipment to service equipment
- Prepares trays for patients based on meal tickets and for retail customers as requested.
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas, including dish room. Washes dishes by hand or by machine.
- Delivers trays to patient’s room or nursing unit. Returns dirty trays from unit to dish room, maintaining separation of clean and dirty.
- Enters patient diet orders and meal/snack orders into computer system. Assists patient with menu choices to meet diet restrictions
- Organizes and delivers nourishment supplies to units as ordered.
- Accepts customer payments maintaining a balanced cash drawer. Balances receipts daily.
- Resolves concerns and complaints from customers or refers to supervisor as appropriate.
- Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules. Practices teamwork and adheres to Standards of Behavior.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Uses appropriate methods to clearly convey information to others in an engaging way, which helps others understand and retain the message.
