Overview

Under direct supervision, maintain assigned areas within the medical center in a clean, safe, attractive, and orderly condition, ensuring a sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

Cleaning:

  • Clean assigned areas on campus include patient and non-patient areas (offices, elevators, grounds, parking garages, lobbies, conference rooms), according to established standards.
  • Tasks include washing furnishings, curtains, walls, vacuuming upholstery, removing trash and biohazard waste, and replenishing waste collection devices.
  • Use disinfectants and cleaning solutions in line with policies and procedures, ensuring attention to detail.
  • Notify the supervisor of any signs of pests and ensure all areas are left neat and orderly after cleaning.

Floor Care:

  • Sweep, mop, wax vinyl tile floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets, and scrub grout areas as required.
  • Report any floor issues that need more than routine cleaning, such as worn areas, for scheduling of deeper maintenance.
  • Complete floor care tasks assigned.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Maintain accurate records, including daily tasks, laundry weights, linen inventory, project requests, and equipment or facility issues.
  • Stay up to date on department information through email, bulletin boards, and meetings. Participate in departmental improvements.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Report any concerns related to equipment (e.g., broken parts, unusual sounds, or malfunctioning call bells), furniture, or work areas (e.g., soiled tiles, damaged walls).
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and charged as required.

Supplies & Storage:

  • Monitor supply levels and report when chemicals or equipment are running low or not functioning properly.
  • Assist in the proper storage and organization of department supplies.

Linen Management:

  • Collect, sort, and process soiled linen according to infection prevention procedures.
  • Prepare linen for laundering and ensure it's delivered to designated areas when cleaned, maintaining proper stocking levels.
  • Keep laundry area clean and organized, and document soiled laundry weight as per department policy.
  • Maintain laundry equipment and report when servicing is needed.

Infection Prevention:

  • Follow infection prevention protocols, including proper cleaning after spills involving blood or body fluids.
  • Consistently use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to hand hygiene policies.

Department Support:

  • Assist with a variety of tasks related to cleaning, floor care, and linen processing as needed.
  • Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the team, providing excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Be open to adjusting shifts or assignments as needed to meet department needs.

Qualifications

  • Previous cleaning experience in healthcare, school, or hospitality setting.
  • Experience operating floor equipment, sweepers, and commercial washers/dryers.
  • On-the-job training will be provided.

USD $16.50/Hr.
