What You Will Do:
The Senior Director of Development solicits leadership charitable donations throughout the DoD’s assigned function and/or service area. Execute giving programs to include direct solicitations, prospect research, proposal development, special events, donor appeals, capital and endowment campaigns, and planned and deferred giving efforts. The Senior Director reports to the Valley Health Executive Director of Foundations while working with the assigned Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and the Entity Presidents and leaders.
Duties include:
Execute the assigned Major Gift efforts to include solicitation of a portfolio of major gift donors, foundations and prospects, design and implement personalized strategies from identification through solicitation, plan and execute cultivation and stewardship events/programs as assigned, coordinate with key leadership throughout Valley Health to identify and solicit potential donors. Meet or exceed team and personal fundraising goals as assigned by the Executive Director of VH Foundations. Supervise Development Staff as assigned by the Executive Director of VH Foundations. Execute assigned individual, foundation and corporate solicitations to acquire major gifts. Participate in the writing of grant proposals. Effectively utilize the Raiser's Edge moves management tools to achieve goals. Ensures timely receipt, acknowledgment and allocation of gifts according to the requirements of the IRS and the Donor, utilizing the Raisers Edge gift tracking system to book gifts when needed.
What You Will Bring:
Education
Bachelors in Development, Business, Marketing or related field required. Masters preferred
Experience
10+ Years In Development, Sales or a related field required
10+ years of experience in charitable fundraising with a record of accomplishment in major gifts, development work and experience as a professional development officer, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Certification & Licensures
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) recognition required, or willing to earn within 5 years
Qualifications
Strong initiative, volunteer management and organizational skills are required. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, the internet and an in-depth knowledge of software systems for donor management such as Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred. Leadership, interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills required. The ability to recruit, retain and manage volunteers for various development functions essential.
