What You Will Do:
Director Nursing Operations leads nursing effectiveness strategies and is responsible for hospital wide throughput. Responsible for reviewing unit specific nursing financial reports and providing education to directors and managers on improving operational efficiencies. Includes the innovative development, implementation and leadership of a internal RN, PCA and sitter resource pool. Director, Nursing Operations will have direct oversight and management of utilization for both internal and external RN agency and resource pool staff, including sitters, according to UH policies and procedures. He/She will manage Float Pool, agency staff and will oversee the related contracts (ShiftWizard and Qualivis). He/She will manage daily hospital throughput in collaboration with the unit leaders, Case Management and Transfer Center ensuring the patient is in the right bed at the right time, matched with the right caregivers. Maintain records of system wide RN, PCA and sitter supplemental staff utilization by hospital and nursing unit. He/She will coordinate and approve standardize use of overtime and premium pay based on patient acuity and staffing availability. Act as a resource for all Nurse Managers and Directors on development of annual departmental budgets, monthly Work Hours per Patient Day (WHPPD) reports and additional variance reporting. Partners with Nursing Directors and Managers to develop innovative action plans to address budget variances and staffing concerns. Assists with plans for implementation and change management. Collaborates with Human Resources and Nursing Leadership in the effective recruitment and retention of RN, PCA and sitter supplemental staff, including a consistent review of competitiveness studies. Provides monthly reports to Nursing Leadership on nursing operational effectiveness by hospital and unit. Manage Clinical Agency placement for the System through approved Vendor Management Group (Qualivis). He/She will focus on PX , EE and Continuous Process Improvement and oversee the related contracts (GWN).
What You Will Bring:
Bachelors Healthcare Administration or related field required
Masters Healthcare Administration or related field preferred
5 years experience in a large, complex healthcare setting, including 3yrs direct leadership experience required
Experience leading quality and service improvement required
Experience with productivity systems and expense reduction strategies required
Certification & Licensures
Registered Nurse or other clinical licensure preferred
