Director, Finance Transformation - Finance Admin - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)

The Director of Finance Transformation will lead strategic initiatives to enhance financial processes, integrate advanced technologies, and drive overall improvements within the finance department at Keck Medicine of USC. This role demands a forward-thinking leader with expertise in finance, project management, and change management to implement effective solutions that align with the organization's "Big Rock" goals. The Director of Finance Transformation will lead high priority Finance initiatives including Margin Improvement, Controller Services, Supply Chain and post-live support for Revenue Cycle. They will manage the ongoing collaboration with Information Technology for issue resolution, process controls and task forces and committee management. They will establish governance frameworks and design standardized processes for financial planning and analysis. They will foster a proactive approach to financial management, steering the finance department towards achieving strategic objectives. The Director of Finance Transformation will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of finance operations and to support the overall mission of the Keck Medicine of USC.Essential Duties:

  • Partner closely with senior finance leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive finance transformation strategy aligned with the organization's overall business goals.
  • Identify, design, and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting and operations.
  • Lead the selection and implementation of financial systems and tools that support the transformation initiatives, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to gather requirements, address concerns, and communicate the benefits of finance transformation initiatives.
  • Develop and execute change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions during transformation projects, including training and support for staff.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of transformation initiatives and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
  • Create a culture of accountability to ensure the implementation of the scope, budget, schedule, and quality of transformational priorities.
  • Oversee budgeting processes related to transformation projects and ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Develop and implement governance structures to ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor and assess the effectiveness of finance processes.
  • Map current workflows to identify areas for automation and improvement.
  • Facilitate change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and systems.
  • Mentor and develop finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Draw upon healthcare knowledge, trends, and experiences to highlight relevant implications for the organization.
  • Engage with leaders to ensure meaningful results are achieved and builds ongoing relationships.
  • Promote an open, positive, professional, team-oriented environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative/analytically challenging field (Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering etc.)
  • Req 10 years Experience in finance, information technology or process improvement
  • Req 10 years Experience in project management
  • Req 3-5 years Progressive leadership experience and supervising a team
  • Req Exceptional understanding of professional finance and accounting in a health care setting.
  • Req Intellectual curiosity about improving health care delivery.
  • Req Succinct communicator who thinks well on feet and tailors’ communication in way that reflects understanding of situation.
  • Req Excellent written and oral communication skills; experienced presenter of key messages to broad audiences including Senior Stakeholders
  • Req Knowledge in all or most of the following areas: utilizing database tools for research and analysis, building, and maintaining data models, utilizing decision support tools in a healthcare environment.
  • Req Expertise in quantitative market research methods
  • Req Expertise in data governance and analytics
  • Req Ability to work effectively with Health System senior leadership for purposes of supporting enterprise financial decisions.
  • Req Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Req Strong personnel management skills
  • Req Comfortable manipulating and synthesizing data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Master’s degree in Business Administration or Public Health
  • Pref 5 years Health System and Healthcare Experience
  • Pref 5-7 years Experience with business analytics and intelligence tool

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $133,120.00 - $219,648.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
