Job Description

HighPoint - Livingston Regional Hospital

Directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Responsible for the overall operations of the emergency services and ICU departments. Coordinates Chest Pain Center Accreditation including data abstraction and data utilization of patient care.

Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

Facilitates unit quality activities and implementing changes to improve care or processes. Assists with compliance to regulating activities such as TJC, EMTALA.

Assist in direct patient care, functioning independently with medications, treatments, procedures, and equipment, demonstrating nursing practice in accordance with hospital philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.

Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Must complete all education assigned and required for the position including classroom and on-line courses.

Oversees data collection and abstraction related to cardiac patients and provides timely feedback to the Chest Pain committee and administrative team.

Enters the data related to cardiac patients into the online Chest Pain Center ACD Patient events.

Maintains competence and performs Registered Nurse duties, as needed, within scope of practice.

Job Requirements

Minimum EducationBachelor’s degree in Nursing - Required

X Master's degree X Preferred □ Required

Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Must complete at least one of the following annually:Accreditation workshop attendance;Data Utilization Course;CPC data webinars;Quality education; orEducation provided by the Accreditation Review Specialist

Certifications:

X Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Assoc - Must be current upon start of positionX Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Assoc - Required within 6 months from start of positionX Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Assoc - Required within 6 months from start of position

Licenses: Current Tennessee or compact state RN Licensure.

Minimum Work Experience3 years of direct patient care of the ACS patient - RequiredEmergency Department experience - PreferredSupervisory/Management experience - Preferred
