Summary

Position Summary

 

The Director of Philanthropy is a key position within the Foundation team responsible for fundraising and interacting with donors and board members.  S/he will identify, cultivate, solicit, and secure annual, major, and event-related gifts; assist with grants; and steward and celebrate donors.  The right candidate will have at least five years of successful experience in fundraising and working with board leaders and a track record of providing exceptional service to board members, donors, and key partners.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.  If the candidate does not have a bachelor’s degree, then longer than five years’ experience in fundraising will be required.  CFRE attainment required within 12 months of hire.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in fundraising and board and donor relations.

 

License/Registration/Certifications       

  • N/A

 

Preferred Requirements

Fundraising

  • Serve as a passionate and informed advocate for Spartanburg Regional Foundation (SRF) and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS).
  • Be able to communicate our story clearly one-on-one and in large groups, in spoken and written form, while growing enthusiasm for and commitment to the work of the organization.
  • Understand and manage relationships to ensure that the impact of SRF and SRHS is known by the right people to ensure future success.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, secure, and steward individual foundation donors.
  • Increase philanthropic support including meeting specific fundraising goals outlined annually.
  • Work with SRF team to ensure that all donors are recognized, appreciated, and celebrated.
  • Maintain accurate and timely donor records and files.

 

Board, Volunteer, and Community Relations

  • Build excellent relationships and provide exceptional service to SRF board of trustees, advisory board members, donors, sponsors, patients, prospects, key partners, and community members.
  • Assist with management of division board(s).

 

Leadership & Team Building

  • Foster efficiency, open communication, and teamwork in SRF and throughout the organization.
  • Sign and abide by the SRHS Code of Behavior Standards.
  • Maintain strong internal relationships with foundation team, SRHS administration, physicians, clinicians, and staff.
  • Be an active participant and supporter of SRF special events, the annual fund, the grateful patient program, and employee campaign activities.
  • Undertake additional and occasional special projects as requested
