Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide courier services of mail, supplies and materials between MNMC and offsite locations. Position will be responsible for financial deposits daily as requested. Position will also monitor and perform miscellaneous environment of care inspections as scheduled.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
No previous experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Basic computer skills needed.
- Exceptional ability to follow guidelines, routes and instructions.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Knowledge of current Pennsylvania Department of Transportation laws regarding operation of a motor vehicle.
- Knowledge of receiving practices, medical supply and equipment terminology.
- Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively and to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and project a professional image.
License/Certification/Registration:
Current valid PA driver’s license.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Varied office and stockroom settings. May require extended periods of sitting in a vehicle and exposure to adverse weather conditions. May require work near moving mechanical parts. Occasional stress due to varying demands.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
Requires full range body motion and corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires close vision at 22 inches or less and distance vision at 25 feet or more. Requires the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Requires peripheral vision and the ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point. Requires a combination of sitting, walking, squatting, kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Transports mail, supplies and materials to and from offsite locations daily as per scheduled routes. This includes mail, supplies, lab specimens and other materials as assigned. Additional scheduled route stops would include daily business stops for MNH, i.e. post office, banks and other offices requiring courier services of MNH.
- Routes include pickups and drop offs at all Mount Nittany Health locations twice daily.
- Manage impromptu requests and demands while maintaining the integrity to manage already scheduled requirements; this includes accommodating additional offices on an as needed basis.
- Monitors vehicles daily and assists in their maintenance.
- Ensures all deliveries have been completed at the end of each day by checking vehicles to ensure nothing remains on board.
- Replenish fuel as needed.
- Assist in the cleaning of the interior and exterior of the vehicle as needed.
- Schedule routine preventative maintenance and inspections of vehicles.
- Maintain daily route sheets to ensure accuracy of route destinations and stops.
- Completed route sheets are submitted daily.
- Monitor Inventory PAR of supplies at locations assigned and replenish inventory to those areas as scheduled.
- Scan Inventory PAR’s at locations as assigned at a minimum of once per week using a hand held barcode scanner. Some locations may require an additional scan weekly this will be determined based on need in conjunction with Supervisor.
- Deliver and replace inventory orders to offsite locations from the scan of inventory PAR.
- These inventory replenishment orders will be prepared at the main storeroom and the courier will pick up, deliver, and replace to the offsite locations when they are available.
- Monitor and perform miscellaneous checks at offsite locations for general environment of care items monthly.
- Including fire extinguisher inspection dates, exit signs are illuminated and other items as assigned.
- Work hours will vary and with rotation of schedules to accommodate deliveries required in the evenings and weekends.
- Perform other duties as required.
