Under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, handles specimen prioritization and centrifugation. Performs patient registration and order entry. Reviews laboratory requests for billing code compliance. Communicates with patients of all ages.
Relief 8 Hours/Week, Evenings - every other weekend
Education & Training: High School diploma or equivalent required; 2 months On-The-Job Training.
Experience: 1-2 years Hospital/Clinical Lab experience preferred.
License, Certification & Registration: N/A.
Other Requirements: Experience with computers required. Experience with hospital information systems preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred. Knowledge of billing and insurance preferred. Knowledge of ICD-9 coding preferred. Professional conduct and interpersonal communication skills, manual dexterity in use of equipment. Must be able to communicate with all levels of hospital, nursing home and physician office personnel.
