Clinical Education Specialist
The Clinical Education Specialist is the teacher, clinical resource, practitioner, consultant, and change agent for the assigned unit. Working with the staff and management of the unit, the Ed/CS is responsible for the assessment, planning, development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of patient care needs and staff educational needs. The incumbent will serve as a role model for all levels of staff. Provides direct staff and patient education, formulates teaching plans for staff and patients, intervenes clinically as appropriate, and participates in the unit’s Quality Improvement plan. Supports and participates in identification and application of appropriate nursing research, in-service, continuing education, clinical competence, and changes in nursing policies and procedures. The position will divide approximately 50/50, time spent on the clinical unit and time spent in the classroom.
Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or compact state.
Bachelors in Nursing required; Masters in Nursing preferred.
One year prior experience as Clinical Specialist or Nurse Educator preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years as staff or specialty nurse required.
Three (3) years management experience preferred.
Clinical competence/excellence in area of specialty required.
Adult teaching/learning experience preferred.
