Once training is completed, this will be a remote position.
The Charge Capture Specialist is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and accurately assessing and entering charges for Emergency, Urgent Care and Observation services.
Uses medical coding software to assist in the correct capture of all billable charges, reviewing documentation included in the medical record. Identifies inconsistencies in medical reports and works with Revenue Integrity leadership and healthcare staff to improve charge capture and error correction.
Maintains full compliance with coding/billing guidelines and regulations. Assists in analyzing any related billing errors or omissions.
Participates in ongoing education and training to determine and implement any process improvement.
Is detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. Possesses the ability to work independently, and as a member of a team fostering positive, professional relationships, with the ability to problem solve and communicate effectively. Can be flexible with changing priorities and work volume, and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Meets and maintains productivity standards, and ensures that established daily routines are completed in a timely manner.
Demonstrates the ability to be punctual, dependable and exercise a reliable attendance record.
Current coding certification is required. RHIT, CCS, CPC, CEDC preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of coding or clinical charge capture experience in an acute care facility.
Practical experience using hospital information systems, intermediate MS Office knowledge, and ability to learn department specific software, demonstrating accurate and efficient data entry.
