ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides thought leadership and strategic advice to drive profitable growth.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities for improved financial performance through actuarial analysis of legislative changes, payor contract terms and financial performance.
  • Initiates, direct and drive complex cross-functional projects to successful completion.
  • Delivers best in class services in the areas of pricing, forecasting, benefits design, payer relations/contract optimization.
  • Lead the day to day execution of projects ensuring progress against established objectives, timelines, deliverables, and quality standards.
  • Manage and lead a team of actuarial analysts ensuring goals are achieved efficiently and on-time.   Optimally leverages team resources by delegating assignments.
  • Develops and retains a high performing team through coaching, regular check-ins and performance reviews. Support development and exam progress of team members.
  • Establish credibility by demonstrating subject matter expertise and knowledge. Exhibit high emotional intelligence. Be a servant leader. Demonstrate confidence and authenticity. Respect and promote diversity. Build strong relationships, with subject matter experts, other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong software skills in SAS, R. Python, Visual Basic and SQL
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong ability to present facts and findings with an independent viewpoint; including confidence to present non-popular results to leadership
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized team and ability to balance multiple work streams
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 10% of the time
  • Spoken and written fluency in English
  • This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

  • Bachelor's degree; FSA or career ASA designation. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis above the minimum required
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, statistics, data science or finance preferred
  • Minimum eight (8) years of related experience
  • Experience in Medicare Advantage preferred

The Associate Director, Actuarial Services is responsible to ensure all actuarial work meets the highest standards of quality and proactively managing the risk position within ChenMed’s family of companies. Responsibilities includes perform technical, analytical, support, and leadership functions to help the department and the company meets its goals. This position will require a strong and deep knowledge of Medicare Advantage and Value Based Payer & Provider Partnerships as well as a breath of experience in Clinical Analytics, Population Health Management, Financial Reporting, Data Analytics and Valuation. The incumbent will need to have strong communication skill and be able to communicate very technical actuarial problems to ChenMed’s leadership team.
