Assistant Director, Patient Access Services
Responsible for overseeing the central access team who use Epic to support hospital and ambulatory (clinic and ancillary services) prior authorization, financial clearance and registration related work queue activities. Job Requirement Education/Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, business, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience in patient access/patient registration operations in the healthcare industry, two (2) years of which were in a supervisory/managerial role.Licensing/Certification Requirements:
None. Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements
- Experience in overseeing day to day operations in large division with at least 200 employees consisting a hierarchy of managers, supervisors and employees
- Strategic planning ability including providing overall direction for the department
- Experience in planning and opening new clinical sites
- Project management experience
- Experience in managing departmental budget including cost benefit and variance analysis
- Minimum of two (2) years managerial experience in a UNION environment

Developing and enforcing departmental policies and procedures; writing financial and technical reports; reviewing and analyzing billing and claims reports; determining acceptable payments and time frames; developing interpersonal relations with a variety of people; negotiating settlements on third party accounts; using computers and related software applications; communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and VDT screens, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
