Under the general supervision of the Staff Physician, the surgical assistant (PA-C, RNFA) is a member of the Surgical team and provides patient services. Actively assist surgeon during a surgical operation, establishing a collaborative working team. The surgical assistant (PA-C, RNFA) must adhere to the guidelines established by the Department of Surgery and the department of nursing. Patient population ranges from infancy through late adulthood.
Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Jefferson the hospital of choice for patients and employees.
Provides advanced clinical support to the Surgeon to assure continuity of patient care.
Engages in continuing education activities which promote professional growth.
Participates in team strategic planning and quality assurance activities in order to provide optimum safe patient care.
Performs other duties as assigned

On-call requirement for weekdays (evening/nights) and weekends (every 3rd weekend)
2+ years of experience as a surgical first assistant (PA-C, RNFA) required
Physician Assistant - Master's Degree
RNFA - Bachelors degree in Nursing
Physician Assistant - Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in New Jersey
RNFA - Current RN licensure to practice as RN in New Jersey as well as current RNFA certification
