Description

The Project Director leads the UCLA Area Service Center (ASC) which is part of the CA Newborn Screening (NBS) Program administered by the Genetic Disease Screening Program (GDSP) in the CA Dept of Public Health. Executes the Scope of Work in the State contract and assumes responsibilities for contract deliverables: completion of referral follow-up with appropriate documentation, submission of various reports, coordination of NBS practice with providers in the community (facilities and small groups/individuals) to comply with the State Regulations and provides technical consultation and educational support. Develops or implements quality assurance practice with ongoing monitoring and evaluation of various processes with NBS providers. Supervises staff (hires, trains, motivates, evaluates & discipline staff). Ensures competency by providing necessary training. Plans and oversees budget and contract agreement with the University representatives. Facilitates and oversees the planning process for the UCLA ASC. Develops curricula for training of providers and defines  objectives for presentations. Provides back-up for the team and participates in weekend and holiday on call coverage. Provides quality review of data related to NBS activities. Promotes families’ access to clinical care and collaborates with special care centers and other agencies in the provision of care.  Participates in projects or assignments as identified by the GDSP staff.
