This Role offers a Sign On Bonus of $20,000 

Position Summary

Under indirect and some direct supervision of a physician or department manager, the NM technologist will coordinate and participate in a variety of technical tasks, tests and determinations involving the utilization of radiopharmaceutical usage for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic exams.

 

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited and approved Nuclear Medicine program in addition to certification in Radiography or Computed Tomography

Experience

  • 1+ year NM experience working in an Imaging Department

License/Registration/Certifications       

  • Current CNMT or ARRT Registry in Nuclear Medicine and current Registry in NMTCB(CT) or ARRT(CT) or ARRT(R)
  • Currently Registered SCRQSA
  • Current BLS

Core Job Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical procedures to include in vivo and in vitro studies; operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma and apparatus for in vitro counting.
  • Calibrate; reconstitute and prepare pre-kits of radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients. Calibrate instruments and review calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction. Calculate data to include results of patient studies and radioactive decay.
  • Process computerized image data to include quantitative analysis, function curves and reconstructed fused SPECT/CT images for diagnostic interpretation.  Evaluate images for technical quality.
  • Survey the Nuclear Medicine Department with Geiger counters for possible contamination.
  • Assist other healthcare professionals with imaging procedures, starting IV's, delivery of oral contrast and injecting contrast, when applicable.
  • Assist radiologist and other healthcare professionals with interventional NM procedures
  • Perform Nuclear Cardiology studies including image acquisition and processing and monitoring patient vital signs. Assist with EKG prep, tracing and monitors for obvious change during cardiac studies.
  • Positively responds and implements change when needed and has good decision and critical thinking skills.
  • Assists with quality control and maintenance of all equipment in the area
  • Properly utilize accessory equipment such as dose calibrators, Geiger counters, uptake probes, EKG, perfusion/ventilation devices, injectors, patient moving devices, stretchers, warmers, scanners, printers, and PACS workstations
  • Explain and prepare procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and/or written clinical history to the radiologist and other healthcare professionals per policy and protocols.
  • Assists in training of new staff and of students during clinical rotations
  • Follows, maintains and helps implement hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Consistently communicates with patients, guests, staff and physicians in a positive manner
  • Knowledgeable of compliance and regulatory requirements and adheres to Federal, State, accrediting bodies, and standard practice of care for patients, staff, guests and facilities
  • Adheres to departmental procedures and protocols
  • Rotating schedules for after-hours call and holidays
  • Ensure correct charging of procedures and supplies on a daily basis
  • Works as a team member with peers and other departments. Responds calmly and efficiently to situations.
  • Regularly attend departmental meeting, in-services and actively participate in continuing education activities
