Position Description
Performs specialized, complex work to assist in the organization and implementation of various projects and programs. Work is performed under supervision within established guidelines with performance based on overall results obtained.
Major/Essential Functions
-Check e-mails to verify all credit card payments have been posted and receipted correctly.
-Check the librarian portal for new library card applications.
-Generate new library cards and upload into the KOHA system Verify patron information is complete and if not, access Banner to gain further information.
-Verify correct expiration dates using Banner.
-Trains students assistants in daily operation of the circulation.
-Check in and out library materials.
-Using KOHA system and determining if they need more in-depth assistance, introducing them to a Reference Librarian for further assistance.
-Assist with the basic maintenance of circulation computers and OPAC’s.
-Answer phone calls for circulation.
-Answer phone calls for Reference, ILL and Administration when they are away from their offices.
-Keep circulation office inventory up-to-date.
-Assist with circulation monthly statistics daily.
-Monitor the student assistants work habits and ensure that they are following procedures.
-Keep up with Reference Librarian schedule on availability to assist patrons.
-Assist patron’s with photocopying and scanning.
-Assist patrons with ILL requests.
-Assist student assistants in getting their ID badge and ensure that they have access to the library after-hours.
-When the supervisor is out, make sure that the office runs as smoothly as possible.
-Call the vendor on issues we may be experiencing with the vending machine.
-Notify the supervisor when there is a problem in circulation that needs attention.
-Update patron records in KOHA.
-Customer service issues.
-Handles lighting, elevator, security gate issues.
-Maintain room reservations for students.
-Maintain Libchat for patron assistance.
-Check out headsets and chargers for laptops for students use.
Required Qualifications
High school plus five years experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Must have 5 years of supervisory experience
