Position Summary:
Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams on patients. Uses specialized equipment, techniques, and/or computer programs to perform work.

 

Job Requirement

 

Education/Experience:
Successful completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:

Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered in Radiography. ARRT registration in MRI is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).

 

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

 

  • 1+ years of experience in an MRI position required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Procedures and protocol associated with MRI and the area of assignment; specialized equipment used in the area of assignment; quality assurance and quality control measures; personal computers; anatomy and physiology of the human body; contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms; venipuncture techniques; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in:
using computers and related software applications for scanning and diagnostic evaluation; applying aseptic technique; positioning patients properly to maximize results; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and VDT screens, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
