Overview

The Manager, Total Rewards will play a critical role in overseeing the administration and operations of compensation, benefits, leave of absence, workers' compensation, and ADA compliance. This position will supervise a team of four specialists, ensuring the efficient and effective management of key HR programs and services. The Total Rewards Manager will work closely with the Executive Director of Total Rewards & HR Operations to support compensation and benefits strategies that align with organizational goals, drive employee engagement, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

Team Supervision

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of four specialists responsible for compensation, benefits, leave of absence, workers' compensation, and ADA administration.
  • Provide coaching and development to team members to ensure high performance and continuous growth.
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.

Benefits Planning & Administration

  • Manage the planning and execution of benefits programs, including annual enrollment, plan design, and ongoing communication with employees.
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth benefits administration and resolution of escalated issues.
  • Lead the communication strategy for benefits, ensuring clear, concise, and timely information to employees.

Compensation Planning

  • Assist in developing and implementing compensation strategies, including salary reviews, market benchmarking, and incentive plans.
  • Oversee the administration of compensation programs to ensure equitable and competitive pay practices.
  • Work with the Executive Director on the annual salary planning process, including salary budgeting and reporting.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Manage regular and ad-hoc reporting related to compensation, benefits, and other total rewards programs.
  • Utilize data to analyze trends, identify issues, and provide recommendations for improvement.

Compliance & Legal Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and workers' compensation regulations.
  • Maintain and update policies related to total rewards programs, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on all aspects of leave administration, workers' compensation, and ADA compliance.

Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with benefits and compensation vendors to ensure optimal service delivery, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing performance management.

Lead or participate in special projects related to total rewards, ensuring the successful implementation of new programs or systems.

 

Qualifications

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of compensation, benefits, and leave administration
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Understanding of regulations including (but not limited to): ERISA, FMLA, ADA, Delaware PFML
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Education

Experience & Education Required

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years experience in total rewards, compensation, or benefits management
  • Supervisory or management experience
