Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care (SHRC) is a 97-bed long-term, acute-care hospital with a 25-bed skilled nursing facility located in Spartanburg, SC.

 

Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is under the direction of a licensed nurse, the CNA provides patient care through knowledge of therapeutic patient care, patient advocacy, team dynamics, and serves as a resource for patients and family members.  The CNA performs basic nursing skills as defined under Critical Care Delivery and environmental assistance to facilitate quality service and improve patient outcomes.

 

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Completion of a program for nursing assistance or relevant work experience to test for CNA certification

Experience

  • Entry level

License/Registration/Certifications 

  • Certification as a nurse assistant

 

Preferred Requirements

Preferred Education

  • Associate degree

Preferred Experience

  • Acute care hospital experience.

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications          

  • BLS

 

Core Job Responsibility

  • Documents and communicates with team members in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental, and treatment needs of patients, families, and visitors ranging in age from early adult to late adult.
  • Demonstrates proper business and telephone etiquette and sound judgment in receiving and placing calls.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Assists patients by answering call lights in person and helping with requests when able or notifies nurse or other clinical staff in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Welcomes and greets patients upon arrival to the unit and rounds on patients every 2 hours.
  • Delivers meals/snacks, water, and ice in a timely manner.
  • Straightens rooms - clears bedside tables, changes/straightens linens, helps keep rooms tidy.
  • Knowledgeable in use of and response to Facility Alert, Medical Alert, Medical Emergency Systems.
  • Proactive in addressing potential needs of patients.
  • Remains committed to unit, department, and division goals.
  • Attends continuing education classes for improvement offered at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
  • Reports risk management concerns to appropriate person.
  • Adheres to system-wide standards of behavior.
  • Maintains minimum level of supplies for unit and/or patient care area.
  • Answers questions and directs visitors/family in a courteous manner.
  • Collects vital signs, other specimens in the scope of CNA, assists nursing and/or physician staff with procedures as needed.
  • Assists with proper placement of patient belongings/valuables and labels as appropriate.
  • Assists with maintaining skin integrity and reports pressure areas to nurse.
  • Transport patient as needed to designated unit.
  • Other duties as assigned.
