The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Histology Technician I who will be responsible for performing technical procedures and tasks supporting the day-to-day operations of the AP Histology Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. In addition, he/she will provide technical expertise to ensure the proper functioning of the laboratory division for optimal quality, efficiency, productivity, and turn-around times.Specific Job-Related Duties:

• Prepares tissue sections for microscopic examination using a variety of techniques including fixation, embedding, cutting, and staining tissue slides for good diagnostic quality.
• Prioritizes and accurately performs all designated departmental procedures, including embedding, microtomy, staining (special stains), decalcification, coverslipping, and labeling.
• Operates precision equipment and works with a variety of reagents and chemicals to make tissue abnormalities visible with a microscope.
• Prepares and maintains solutions required for all procedures.
• Identifies, labels, and processes tissue according to specifications.
• Maintains equipment, cleaning, changing solutions, taking temperatures, and replenishing supplies and solutions as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory agencies.

Hourly range:

The hourly rate range for this position is $31.84 - $40.93.
