Overview
The School Based Wellness Center clinical social worker provides direct mental health counseling to adolescents in a high school setting. Services include individual/group/family psychotherapy, crisis intervention, referral to outpatient treatment and evaluations. Works as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
Skilled in interviewing techniques for psychosocial assessment; possess therapeutic skills and knowledge necessary for adolescent psychotherapy; possess familiarity with community resources and ability to work as part of an inter-collaborative team with Wellness Center and school staff. Strong written communication skills required to maintain medical records; strong time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks for crisis management, experience facilitating group therapy and navigating group dynamics; knowledge of diverse cultures and differences as they pertain to therapeutic process.
Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing situations and provide versatility in prioritizing cases. Triaging a student as a “whole person”. Maintaining an atmosphere within the School Based Wellness Center (SBWC) where each student feels safe. Protection of confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
Identifying and determine the appropriate level of intervention in a timely manner. Insure appropriate alignment of services to students.
Respond to requests from the school administrators for intervention and educational group therapy sessions. Utilize community agencies and resources to support group sessions. Engage in other duties as deemed necessary to the daily operations of the School Based Wellness Center
Follow all legal mandates, regulations and professional ethical standards.
Complete the Billing and Evaluation encounter form for each visit using accurate CPT codes, diagnosis codes and tracking referral codes.
Qualifications
Masters of Social Work with LCSW licensed in Delaware from a school of social work or LPCMH licensed in Delaware. Must possess ability to relate to adolescents in crisis and in uncomfortable or unpredictable situations. Ability to remain composed under pressure and function independently. Knowledge of computer programs and electronic medical records. Clear communication skills both written and verbal. Must be able to work with a close multidisciplinary team.
Minimal of two years in clinical social work setting, requiring contact with the public. Experience with adolescents and working knowledge of the community resources.
