The Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center is a 673-bed tertiary healthcare facility which provides care to over 100,000 veterans in northern Ohio. We provide care through our main medical facility at the Wade Park campus, 13 community based outpatient clinics, and 3 vet centers. The medical center has been recognized for more programs of excellence than any other Veterans Affairs Medical Center. These programs of excellence include: Open Heart Surgery, Care of the Seriously Mentally Ill, Geriatric Evaluation and Management, Substance Abuse Care, Spinal Cord Injury Care, Medical Care of the Homeless, Domiciliary Care of the Homeless, Functional Electrical Stimulation, Advance Platform Technology, Primary Care Education, and Patient-Centered Specialty Care Education. We are a teaching hospital providing a full range of patient care services to Veterans with state-of-the art technology as well as medical education and research. Our main campus in Cleveland, Ohio has a full service ER for both general acute care and psychiatric care and a comprehensive reference clinical laboratory. DUTIES:

The Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, a Class 1A VA Medical Center and a teaching affiliate of Case Western Reserve University, is seeking an outstanding full-time (8/8ths) candidate for the position of Director of the Primary Care Clinic, a large comprehensive ambulatory setting serving the needs of Veterans. The Primary Care Clinic has the distinction of being a Center of Excellence in Primary Care Education (one of 5 sites in the nation). Responsibilities willinclude overseeing and enhancing the performance of the Primary Care Clinic as well as leading the educational mission in resident, medical student and nursing practitioner education. The incumbent will administrate over 14-15 MDs/NPs (including clinic scheduling, resident curriculum implementation and conflict resolution). He/she will conduct routine meetings with clinic leadership including nursing, Patient Care Administrative Services (PCAS) andresidency leadership. He/she will be responsible for directing patient care in the ambulatory continuity clinic setting. The successful candidate will be expected to qualify for appointment as an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following requirements:

    • U.S Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
    • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
    • Completion of first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
    • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must be board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine of Family Practice.
  • Ambulatory/management experience at an academic medical center.
  • Experience working with residents and medical students.
  • Evidence of academic scholarship.
  • Work experience within a Primary Care Medical Home model.
